I PREDICT: TIME WILL RUN OUT BY 2000 A.D.

Man experiences three main limitations while living on planet Earth. He is limited by time. It cuts man short of his ambitions.

Secondly, man is limited by space. He can only be in one place at a time.

The third is energy. All energy of man is calibrated and limited.

The fateful year of 2000 A.D. is approaching. Leaders have a foreboding that important changes on planet Earth are about to happen. The Kiplinger Letter, written and mailed in the mid-eighties, already warned man to prepare for 2000 A.D.

TIME IS A MYSTERY

All humans are given a limited piece of time. Nobody can get along without it, yet everybody has difficulty explaining it. We talk about work time, leisure time, day time, good times, bad times, old times. No one has been able to clearly define time. One philosopher said, "Time is a form of thought under which we relate events to each other and to ourselves." Time is a measure of motion. Time is a duration of energy.

TIME IS RELATIVITY

Our world is caught up in time. We speak about the swift industrialization of Africa, bringing change in a short period of time.

We talk about telescoping time, or having time stand still. For a boy, an hour in his school book and an hour on the ball field are two different time limits. Time actually crawls for a prisoner in jail. To youth under a romantic moon, time flies. The watch is the same gauge, but emotion makes it different.

TIME IS PRECIOUS

Time is precious because once experienced it cannot be recalled. We receive a bill from a repairman and find that although the part costs 500, we are charged $10 to put it in. Time is more precious than material.

When time is running out. Men will give everything in the world for it. One millionaire screamed at his death. “I would give a million dollars for one more hour to live.”

TIME IS OPPORTUNITY

A Greek word for time is chronos. It means duration, but its meaning has nothing to do with quality or character. From this word we get our word "chronometer," or a time piece.

The Greeks have another word for time, kairos, which means meaningful time, or critical times. This is the word used in Ephesians 5:16 when it says, "redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

There are plenty of "chronometers" or time pieces in our world, but we need "kairometers" or devices telling us how critical or opportune a time situation is. With a seeing eye and an open mind, meaningful achievement is accomplished.

TIME IS EQUALITY

Time has no favorites. It is impartial. It gives each person 60 seconds per minute, 60 minutes per hour, and 8,670 hours per year. Everyone has the same amount of time per day. It is the management of time and not its measure that makes the difference.

TIME IS URGENCY

Jesus said in John 9:4, "I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day, the night cometh when no man can work.
